Sun atnaujino VirtualBox į 2.1
21 gruodžio, 2008 – 11:10Neseniai Sun kompanija atnaujino virtualizacijai skirtą nemokamą produktą VirtualBox. Šioje versijoje pakeitimų nedaug. Vieni svarbesnių pakeitimų yra ilgai lauktas ICMP echo palaikymas, 64-bit’ų palaikymas 32-bit’ų platformose, techninės įrangos virtualizacijos palaikymas MacOS X sistemose ir kt.
Naujos svarbiausios funkcijos
- Techninės įrangos virtualizacijos (VT-x ir AMD-V) palaikymas MacOS X sistemose.
- 64-bit’ų plaformų palaikymas 32-bitų sistemose (tačiau tai vis dar eksperimentinė funkcija).
- Įtraukta Intel Nehalem virtualizacijos pagerinimai (EPT ir VPID).
- Eksperimentinė 3D akseleracija per OpenGL.
- Eksperimentiniai LsiLogic ir BusLogic SCSI kontroleriai.
- Pilnas VMDK/VHD palaikymas.
Kiti pakeitimai

- VMM: support for hardware breakpoints (VT-x and AMD-V only; bug #477)
- VMM: VGA performance improvements for VT-x and AMD-V
- VMM: Solaris and OpenSolaris guest performance improvements for AMD-V (Barcelona family CPUs only)
- VMM: fixed guru meditation while running the Dr. Web virus scanner (software virtualization only; bug #1439)
